Residential

Residential electricty prices have increased by 90% in the past 5 years.  Such large increases are set to become common place with the Carbon Tax and Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) and the continued privatisation of the electricity sector in NSW will also add considerable upward presssure on electricty prices in the coming years.

Beat rising electricity price by investing in solar energy today!  Solar Power is an investment decision that will pay itself back many times over the expected 25 year lifespan of the system.

The Federal Government continues to provide generous rebates to households who choose to invest in solar energy.  The purchase of a solar system will entitle you to Small-scale Technology Certificates (STC'S) and these certificates are assigned to the installer to significantly reduce your solar system upfront cost.  Alternatively householders have the option to trade these STC's themselves on the open market.

For further information on STC's and the Federal Governments Solar Credit Scheme please click on the link below:

Solar grid connect systems currently operate on "NET METERING".  The net metering option powers your home first, reducing or replacing your grid consumption.  Then, if you're producing more than you're consuming, the excess will be feed back into the grid and be recorded as 'export' on your bi-directional meter.

In order to accurately record the energy you return to the grid your current meter will be replaced with a "Smart Meter' programmed to record energy flows in both directions.  This records the energy you use from the grid (imported) and the energy you put back into the grid (exported).

The key features are as follows:

  1. All excess solar energy not used directly by your premises (household) during daylight hours is exported to the grid and rebate paid (at the moment it is $0.08 cents per kW with AGL, we suggest you shop around for the best price).
  2. When you consume electricity at any other time (i.e at night) you are charged as per your current peak & off peak tariffs or time of use tariffs.
